Eminence PXB-LP250 Low Pass Filter 250 Hz 600W

This passive filter is designed for applications where you want to add a separate bass speaker or subwoofer to a speaker system without using active crossovers and/or multiple amplifiers.

This filter should be fitted inside the subwoofer/bass cabinet, the output from the amplifier should be connected to the input of the filter, and the speaker driver connected to the output of the filter.

The full range speaker can be connected to the amplifier output as normal. When using this type of filter with standard 8 ohm cabinet, will result in an impedance of 8 ohms at frequencies above the crossover frequency, and 4 ohms below the crossover frequency since both the subwoofer and full range speaker will be working in parallel. As a general rule, you should only connect one subwoofer and one full range speaker to a channel of a power amplifer unless you are confident you understand impedance matching of speakers and amplifiers. Using a two-way crossover will ensure a uniform impedance across the full audio spectrum.
